One of our customers sent me the following story:

I have a question over “Held Mail”.  This morning we had a problem with one of our Servers and Scanmail for Domino.  The Scanmail task was marking all messages as “Held” – all 2500 + emails .  The Scanmail task had failed (on the Domino console it showed as Idle) but when trying to quit it said “terminated abnormally” .   After quitting the Scanmail task, Mail started to route and the backlog was cleared.

It was obvious to us that we didn’t track held mail properly, so we added it to the product.  Held Mail threshold is a new property on the Domino Server Properties box:

If the servers’ held mail exceeds this threshold, an alert will be sent.  Held Mail now shows up on the Overall Health tab and on the Mail Health tab.
