Well, here’s a first!   As VitalSigns is looking for problems, one of the things it does is parse the value of the statistic mem.availability.  If this statistic has any value other than “plentiful”, we report it.   Until today, we never saw a value other then plentiful.   But that changed today.  One of our customers sent me a screenshot for another issue and I noticed the status of Memory:Painful

I asked him how that server was doing and got back this funny reply:

“Yes.  That server blew up a few weeks ago and the replacement was half- done.  Our network service/server people are primed to resolve this but have pushed it to the wayside for now.  I ask but it just gets ignored for whatever reason..  The server is actually fine, but it needs to have 2 more GB of space added…     I have to admit that the alarms you are showing has really given us a great idea of what is going on..  “

Anyway, I love stories like that.  VitalSigns can help him say to the network guys “see, I really need it!”
