Common Solutions
Q: The installation routine failed with an error similar to "Error COM object not installed or improperly configured"
A: Note: If you have upgraded Notes or Domino from an earlier release using the incremental upgrade installer, you may have to enable the COM support manually.
Do this by selecting Run on the Windows Start menu and then executing the following command (substituting c:\lotus\notes with the path where your Notes Domino files are installed):
regsvr32 c:\lotus\notes\nlsxbe.dll
Q: How do I monitor database servers behind a firewall?
Use your preferred web programming language (eg. ASP, JSP, PHP, Coldfusion, Perl) to write a script to connect to the database server and perform a simple query. If the query executed successfully, the script outputs something like "Database server is UP".
Lastly, go to Servers & Devices, URLs and select to monitor a website. Enter the URL of the script and specify the required keyword "Database server is UP". If the system can't find the keyword on the page, it will notify you and you know the database server is down |
