Domino Server Clusters keep service levels high and enable you to perform maintenance on a Domino server without angering end users.   The Domino server uses an internal statistic called Server.AvailabilityIndex to determine whether users should fail over or not—a value of 100 means the server is 100% available, while a value of 0 means the server is crazy busy and not available at all.   The point at which the Domino server actually starts to redirect users is determined by the Server.AvailabilityThreshold.  VitalSigns watches these two statistics and warns you when failover is looming.

VitalSigns automatically watches over the right metrics such as Replica.Cluster.SecondsOnQueue and Replica.Cluster.WorkQueueDepth to make sure that your cluster replicators are keeping up with their work load. If they aren’t, and users fail over, key information could be missing and the help desk will get swamped with calls. Be prepared.

VitalSigns also makes sure that there is a replica of each database across cluster members, and can produce a report showing the document count and database sizes.
